Before starting your project, you must be aware of some basic things like what is the type of paint that you will use, what material is your furniture made of, what is your budget etc. I don’t want to suggest so many things that will make you more confused.
Here are some important things that you should know before starting your project.
Use high-quality paints
Your paint should be of high quality, otherwise, you will face the problem of not getting a bright color. You can choose between oil based paints and water-based paints. If you are using oil based paints, you will need to clean the furniture first. If you are using water based paints then just wipe the surface with a rag.
Choose the right color
There is no harm in choosing a bold color. But the trick is to choose the color that will match with the rest of the furniture. You can’t use a bright red color for a wooden dining table.
Apply first coat of paint
Once you are ready with the color, apply the first coat of the paint. If you are doing your own project, then it will be easier for you to apply the paint. But if you are hiring the professional then you need to ask him to apply the first coat.
Sand the wood
After applying the first coat of paint, you will notice that the color is not sticking to the wood. The reason behind it is that the surface is not smooth. To solve this problem, you will need to sand the wood. Use a fine sand paper and apply pressure. You can either use a hand sander or an electric sander.
Stain the furniture
The final step in the process is to apply the stain. There are two types of stains, one is an oil based and the other is a water based. If you are using the oil based one then you will need to apply the stain on the wood first. After the stain is applied, you will need to wait for at least 15 minutes and then you can apply the second coat of the paint.
